My daughter was here for the past week and she and Finn went home yesterday. It was nice to have her here. Finn was very excited to see her. He loves it when all of us are together. I did a little bit of cross stitch this past week, but no machine sewing. I finished the framing stitches and added more sky stitches as well. I hope to do more today.
My daughter worked on her crochet while she was here, adding this pretty periwinkle lace border. If you look at the close up, you can see flowers in it. There are still a few more rows to crochet on this but she is afraid she will run out of this colour so has ordered more.
Finn and I spent some time outside one day, reading and enjoying the sunshine. The Berry Pickers is the next book club book and we meet this Thursday to discuss it so I have some reading to do!
Two more varieties of tulips bloomed this week. Both of these have very short but colourful trumpets.
This tree is in bloom in my neighbourhood. So pretty.
My daughter was in Newfoundland in February and went to the quilt store in St. John's and bought these FQ's for me. We were in this store when my husband and I were there in 2023.
I will link up with Frederique and Kathy. Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers, and nurturing women in your lives.
That frame around your cross-stitch design is really pretty, Gail! And wow on your daughter's crochet project, too - it's really intricate. My book club read The Berry Pickers recently - I really liked the story - hope you do, too. Happy Mother's Day!
ReplyDeleteYour daughter crochet is amazing. Such an intricate design. I don’t know this book I will look it up. Sarah quilting by the sea
ReplyDeleteI will need to look for the book. The cross stitch is pretty and the crochet too.
ReplyDeleteHappy Mother's Day to you, Gail. How lovely your daughter and Finn spent the week with you. Such a wonderful gift! Oh my, your daughter's crochet is amazing! Could she possibly stop by here and show me some pointers?? It's not too far away, is it??!! =) Love that fabric with all those buildings and as for your cross stitch, it's coming along wonderfully.
ReplyDeleteYour daughter's crochet looks amazing, this is such an interesting pattern she is working on. Lots of blooming beauties to feast our eyes on in your blog post. Lovely Finn is an ideal reading companion. And Happy Mother's Day wishes to you as well.
ReplyDeleteWow! Your daughter's crocheting is amazing. (Said the gal who can't crochet worth anything!) How fun to get some new fat quarters to play with. Are you doing your cross stitch on paper? I've done some small things that way but nothing big. In fact the eyes aren't great for counted cross stitching... sigh. Beautiful flowers are around you.
ReplyDeleteYou and your daughter sure have some pretty projects happening. Smooches to Finn. Sounds like he had a perfect week too!
ReplyDeleteYour cross-stitch is growing nicely. Your daughter's crocheted piece is gorgeous! I am glad you enjoyed your time with your daughter and Finn
