My husband and I went on a much needed three day getaway this past week at an Airbnb. The place we stayed in used to be a chicken coop and the current owners renovated it to become a cozy place for their guests. It featured a woodstove, a fully equipped outdoor kitchen, a fancy outhouse and an outdoor shower with heated water. The fall colours in the area were in their full glory and we enjoyed a walk in the woods at a local conservation area, a trip to a local small town and reading (both of us) and stitching by the fire (me).

Driving down a country road.
My current read--The Cheese Cure by Michael Finnerty. One of our little field trips was to a local cheese Factory, Empire Dairy, where we purchased several interesting cheeses to take home.
Walking in the woods at the conservation area.
Juniper
The trees just glowed in the sunshine.
We visited a chocolate shop in Warkworth and may have bought some interesting chocolate to bring home. I like the way they have decorated their building. Their chocolate bars have a similar pattern.

My daughter's quilt has been repaired and the binding has been replaced. Here it is on her new bed. I will work on her new quilt after Christmas.
Finn found a comfortable spot on top of my fall quilt on our couch before they went home.
I have made a list of projects that I need to finish/work on and hope to get to some of them this week. I promise there will be more quilty content in next week's post.
I will link up with Kathy and the Slow Sunday Stitchers as well as Frederique.

Ah, stitching by the fire is the best possibly place to be! Your trip sounds like it was fun and relaxing. I love the tumbling blocks on the chocolate shop walls ;) Well done with your daughter's quilt! Thank you for sharing and linking up.
ReplyDeleteYour 'get-away' sounds wonderful, it's nice to do that before the cold and snows of winter settle in. Happy stitching!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous getaway! I'm not sure my husband would be game though. He prefers what he would call "a more civilized" vacation. He's not much for the outdoors unfortunately. Love the way your daughter's quilt looks on the bed. Truly loved if you had to make repairs and your stitchery by the fire looks wonderful. Pats for Finn!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a lovely trip! These small towns have hidden gems, don't they?
ReplyDeletethat sounds like an interesting place to stay - I always prefer indoor plumbing though if I am paying for a place to stay - I get up in the middle of the night and don't like to walk outside when I'm half asleep and then would be too much awake to fall back to sleep.
ReplyDeleteThat country road is absolutely charming! Your photos are gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteWhat a neat place to stay, and so beautiful there! I'm glad you were able to get away for a few days, Gail. That cross-stitch you're working on has such pretty color in it! Fun chocolate shop, too! Daughter's quilt looks like new on the bed there. But a new quilt will be fun for her, too!
ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty place to spend a few days. It looks very peaceful and relaxing. I really like the tumbling blocks on that chocolate shop. Your daughter's quilt looks great.
ReplyDeleteOh what a fun place to visit. I just love when barns and coops are turned into homes. It certainly looks fall there. Thank you so much for taking us along on your stroll. Have a blessed day, Gail. Hugs.
ReplyDeleteStitching by the fire sounds so cozy and comfortable. Love the picture of the autumn leaves against the blue sky. Well done on repairing your daughter's quilt. Have a happy stitching week!
