My counter is approaching 30,000 visits and I have not done a give-away for quite a while. This week, I made this pumpkin wall hanging which needs a home. The London Friendship Quilters' Guild did a Row Robin this year. This is the last row that I made for someone else in my group of 4 quilters. The theme of Edith's quilt is Transportation. It is a quilt for a child. Everyone else in our group had covered all of the transportation modes except flying. It took me a while to find appropriate pictures to use for my row and I am a little late getting it done--but it is done now. Now, I just have to get all of the rows back to Edith... I hope she likes the row I made for her quilt.
It was really hot and humid out today! How hot and humid was it you may ask? It was so humid, that when I went outside to take a picture of my phlox which were just coming out into bloom, my camera lens steamed up! The picture above was taken before I wiped the lens off and the one below was taken after.
I actually like the effect that the steamed up lens gave to the first picture!
We had the cauliflower and some corn on the cob, also purchased at the market, for supper tonight.
I put the binding on my children's charity quilt this afternoon so now it is all ready to donate to the London Childrens' Aid Society for a child in foster care. This is one of the charity projects of the London Friendship Quilters' Guild. I used a flannel piece that a friend gave to me for the back.

Pressing and trimming the dog ears are this week's homework. I finished my homework yesterday.
When cleaning up my sewing room, I found a few more orange FQ's that I had purchased for this quilt. I used some of them in these HST units and will also use them in the pieced border. I love the orange flame fabric! I also added a few more neutral fabrics as I was running low on those. Christine and I have planned a sewing afternoon for next week and we hope to finish Step 4--broken dishes units. THEN...we get to start putting blocks together! The excitement is building! I can hardly wait to see how the blocks will look!
I put the borders on my "Spinning Flying Squirrels and Maggots" quilt today. I had purchased extra fabric to use for borders. This flimsy is ready to go to the quilter's except that I don't have any fabric for the back yet. :-( 
Piper and Daisy are Christine's dogs. Last Friday afternoon, I went to Christine's house and we worked on our Carolina Christmas quilts. Daisy and Piper supervised. Daisy licked my toes and my legs while I sewed. Mostly, they slept on the floor near us.
My zip lock bag of bonus triangles from completing the first half of step 3 of Bonnie Hunter's Dec 2009 Carolina Christmas quilt was sitting on the table in front of my sewing machine. (There is a pile of bonus triangles in the lower left of the picture above--aren't they pretty?) In my last post you can see how I played with a few of them at last week's QNIC (Quilting Night in Canada) at Jacqui's house. I put them away that evening, intending to leave them in the little zip lock bag, unpressed and untrimmed until I finished my Carolina Christmas quilt. BUT, they kept calling my name, until earlier this week, I took out a few and ironed them. I put them back in the bag. Then, decided to iron a few more and trim off the dog ears. Soon, all of them were ironed and trimmed. Yesterday, I thought I would just lay out one block and sew it together. I did not have a lot of time to sew yesterday so this was a welcome break from the paperwork project I was working on. Pretty soon, I had 4 blocks completed.
Last night, Karen, Jacqui and I had a QNIC (Quilting Night in Canada) at Jacqui's house. I started this spinning 4 patch quilt last Summer and never finished putting borders on all of the 4 patches. Last night, I finished off the blocks and then put them up on Jacqui's design wall to see how they would look! This quilt will be called Spinning Flying Squirrels and Maggots" since the fabric I used for the 4 patches has these critters on it. It looks so benign from far away but when you get a close up view, it is a different story! I will work on sewing the blocks together over the next few days.
Karen is making a table runner from a charm pack for her Mother.
My husband and I are going to a wedding on Saturday. The daughter of some friends is getting married. I decided to make their wedding gift--a table runner. I am told their dishes are blue so I think this table runner will do the trick. I bought this fabric ages ago and found it while rooting around in my stash yesterday for something that would go with the blue dishes. I cut it out, pieced it using a Triple Star block pattern that I found on the internet, added some sashing and borders, machine quilted it, mostly in the ditch, and voila! Here is another picture of the runner, modeled by my lovely daughter.
I sure hope they like it! If they don't, they can give it back and I will use it here!
Last December, I made several table runners and placemats with mittens on them. The placemats were donated to Meals on Wheels and the table runners were gifts. At the time, I started a mitten table runner for myself, and never did finish it. I found it languishing in a pile of UFO's in my sewing room last week and decided to finish it now so that I can put it out on display this winter!

I cut out a fabric foundation the right size to cover the stool and started to sew. I tried to pick brightly coloured selvages and even found some with a quilting/sewing theme--very appropriate for a stool for my sewing room.
