After going for a walk with my husband this morning after breakfast, I decided to do a little sewing. I purchased an antique sewing stool from Jacqui a while ago and wanted to recover it. I have a whole drawer full of selvages that I have been saving for over a year and this was a perfect project to dig into them.
I cut out a fabric foundation the right size to cover the stool and started to sew. I tried to pick brightly coloured selvages and even found some with a quilting/sewing theme--very appropriate for a stool for my sewing room.
Here is my "new" stool with my grandmother's sewing machine.
And here is what is blooming in my garden...
Jacqui just made a selvage project too...take a look! I think I need to make one of these too!
Happy Canada Day to you as well.
ReplyDeletelove, love LOVE that selvage covered stool....FABULOUS!!!!
The stool is amazing. Who knew that selvages could make such a cool project.
ReplyDeleteHappy Canada Day! I live on a border town, so visit Canada quite freely.
ReplyDeleteThat stool is superb! Looks wonderful with the cabinet. Great job!
What a wonderful cover for that stool. I have an old piano stool and a bunch of selvege pieces....hmmmm. Now you have me thinking.

ReplyDeleteWow, that turned out cool! Can I copy your idea? That would look so cool for my benches in the sewing room!! Not sure when I'll get to it, but would be fun!
ReplyDeleteit looks great. do you actually sit on it to sew? I have one of those and I upholstered it to match my dining room chairs and in a pinch, a kid sits on it. happy Canada day yesterday to you too!
ReplyDeleteVery nice! We quilters don't waste a thing.

ReplyDeleteWow!! I love the stool - selvages are so perfect for it. I'd love to do that will my kitchen chairs - but will need lots of selvages before it actually can happen.
