Still Sewing

I'm still not finished all of my sewing projects that must be done by the 25th! Yikes! I am running out of time. I have to work almost all day tomorrow too! The above candle mat is for a young woman at my church. I will give it to her tomorrow night at the Christmas Eve church service.

I finished piecing the table runner that I am giving to my MIL tonight. It still needs to be quilted and bound. Guess what I am doing when I get home from work tomorrow? Check back tomorrow for pictures of her finished runner. It is for her dining room table for the fall season. She has runners for the other seasons of the year, but not the fall.

A Finish!

I put the binding on this little quilt the other night. I have been very busy lately--not much sewing time. I have 3 more quilts to bind before next Thursday night so I will have them ready for show and tell at the London Friendship Quilters' Guild meeting. I will be spending my evening tonight getting ready for Quilt 'til You Wilt tomorrow. It runs from 8am to 9 pm and I have big plans to finish a lot of UFO's!

Happy Canada Day!

I have had a very happy Canada Day! The weather has been unsettled, rainy one moment, sunny the next, cloudy and then sunny again all day long. I have spent the entire day sewing blissfully!

My quilty friend, Karen, came over for most of the day. She finished cutting out the pieces for her latest project using the Dusky Meadows pattern from the most recent Quiltmaker magazine. She had fun laying out all of the blocks for her quilt and now will spend some time sewing them together, perhaps at the next QNIC on Friday night.

After packing up all of the pieces for her quilt, she helped me to lay out some small HST's that I made using the corners I cut off when making this quilt a few months ago...
Each HST measured 1 1/2 inches square.

We tried out several types of blocks but settled on the pinwheel blocks. I made 24 pinwheel blocks.
Here are the pinwheels, some sewn together and some not sewn.
After playing around with several layout ideas, I decided to go down to my sewing room to see if there was any more fabric leftover from the original quilt. I found some of the two dark blue fabrics as well as a good chunk of the yellow background fabric. Visions of a table topper with this 10 x10" block in the middle are swirling around in my head. If any of you have any ideas to share, let me know. I have not decided how to do the next part yet.

Oh, I just about forgot...I also finished sewing my daughter's university quilt together...

This was a very productive day! Happy Canada Day!

My MIL's Birthday Gift

My MIL's birthday was this past Saturday so I made this table topper for her. I have not seen her in the last couple of weeks so I still have it at my house. She does not know about it--so don't tell her if you know her! I like the spring colours! Another UFO off the list of things to do...

I worked on my daughter's university quilt for 30 minutes last night--no pictures yet. I am hosting another quilting (and knitting) night in Canada tomorrow night so I will take some pictures of the quilt in progress and post them here later in the week.

My friends Karen and Jacqui and I went to a quilt show in London Ontario last Saturday. We saw some beautiful quilts: Here are a few pictures taken at the show...

Spring Table Topper

My MIL's birthday is coming up so I decided to make a Spring Table topper for her dining room table for her. The pattern book for this topper has 12 different patterns in it for charm pack projects, one for each month of the year. This topper is part of the pattern for May--there were 3 more borders in the pattern, but that would make it too big for her table so I am stopping here. I still have to quilt it. If you know my MIL, please do not spill the beans as this is to be a surprise!

Shhh! It's a surprise...

This table topper is for my MIL for Christmas. I finished piecing it tonight. Most of the material in it is from a charm pack by Moda called "Let it Snow, Let it Snow". The cream fabric and the dark blue squares are from my stash. I bought two of these charm packs so I can make my self something as well. I may even use the same pattern since I am pleased with how this table topper turned out. I also pieced one more gift tonight and I have one more to go. The pictures will not be posted until after Christmas as the recipients may be looking at my blog.

I am hoping for a snow day tomorrow...
