Hello! We have been away and now we are back home. We travelled from where we live in Southern Ontario around Lakes Huron and Superior to Manitoba and back with lots of interesting stops along the way. I will share a few pictures from our trip later in this post. I started a new Fall counted cross stitch project on our trip and spent many hours working on it in the car and while relaxing in the evenings at various places where we stayed. There was not much colour on the trees on the way to Manitoba but Fall was in its full glory in spots on the way home. I love the golds, oranges and reds of this season!

Finn enjoyed some time at the dog park last week. He mostly spends his time greeting all the people, and ignoring the dogs.
On our trip, we spent some time in Sudbury where we went to see the Big Nickel!
And the moonrise...
At Lake Superior Provincial Park, we hiked here to see the petroglyphs down by the water.
This is a Satsuma Street pattern called "Forest". The picture below shows how it looked when we left on our trip. The pattern photo shows it finished as a pillow. I will probably have it framed to hang on the wall when it is done.
My other slow stitching project will be the binding on these two placemats for Meals on Wheels. I still have four more placemats ready to quilt in my sewing room--I am making 12 placemats for this organization to give out to the meal recipients at Christmas.
Here is a picture of the books that my daughter read during August and the corresponding squares for her crocheted book blanket. Wow...17 books in August! I like to read too but never get as many finished as she does.

We walked along the trail by Ramsey Lake and met this little squirrel who made it known loudly that we should move on!

There was a drizzle and fog hike at Pukaskwa National Park. We had our rain gear on and did not get wet.
Gail, you do vacation at the most glorious places. The hikes reveal beautiful scenery. The Forest cross stitch is a fun design in the prettiest of colours. This will look fabulous framed. Your daughter really eats books, doesn't she??!! Just amazing!
ReplyDeleteGreat progress on the Forest cross stitch. I always look at the books you and your daughter read and see if any appeal to me. Lovely photos from your holiday. The rain can be a pain but it does bring out all those beautiful colours!
ReplyDeleteLove the photos. Love the blog Gail! Thanks for sharing your journey with us.
ReplyDeleteYour trip looks wonderful! I like you latest cross stitch project. I like to read also, but I am too busy with crafting to get more than 4 books read each month.
ReplyDeleteI love the photo from Lake Superior Provincial Park, that is so pretty, such a great area for walks it looks like.
ReplyDeleteThat looks like it was a great trip, Gail! I had to go to my maps and check it out. I would like to explore the Lake Superior shoreline - it looks so beautiful. Love your squirrel photos - especially the Lego squirrel! Your daughter is an amazing reader - I always have to look at her titles - there might be one or two that I want to read. Have a wonderful Sunday!
ReplyDeleteLovely places on your way home! You were busy with the cross stitch, I love it! Adorable trees, and the placemats are lovely. Thank you for sharing your journey and linking up!
ReplyDeleteMy daughter loves Satsuma cross-stitch projects too! What beautiful scenery on your trip. I'd love to walk those walks too -- looks so peaceful.
ReplyDeleteSuch lovely scenery you saw on your trip. I had to look up petroglyphs to see what the word meant, ancient rock carvings, that would have been interesting to see.
ReplyDeleteThat's my kind of trip. Love hiking through nature, even in the drizzle, just not downpours. :) Your photos capture the trip beautifully. Lovely counted cross stitch pattern. I will enjoy seeing this come together.
