Chain Link top finished

I finished off my chain link quilt top this week. It has been trimmed now...I should have done that before this picture was taken...  It should be close to single bed size but I am open to adding a border using the background fabric if it isn't. I like the way the coloured chains stand out on the dark background.

I added more stitches to my perforated paper cross stitch picture.  The paper is stiff which makes it easy to hold and stitch.  I find the needle will fall back through the hole when I am coming up from the back so I have to make sure I keep it from doing this as I stitch. I hope to work on this tonight and tomorrow for Slow Sunday Stitching.

My husband was away for the day today so I was on Finn duty.  It was a sunny but cold day today.  He loves to be outside in the sunshine so I got lots of reading done while he basked in the sunshine.  I was wearing my winter coat...

Angela announced that the Rainbow Scrap Challenge colour for April is pink.  I dug out my pink scrap bin and cut out my squares and triangles for my projects at the kitchen counter while Finn supervised.  I still need to cut the background fabrics and then I can make my blocks.

Finn is vigilant in his supervisory role.  Heaven forbid that I leave his sight.

I checked the backyard gardens today and saw that the pink hellebore is starting to bloom. This plant came from my MIL's garden. I had one yellow crocus in bloom too but did not get a picture.  I need to plant more crocuses next fall.  Mine have almost all disappeared--perhaps the squirrels thought they were snack food.

The daffodils are up and have buds.  We will need a bit of warm weather to get them to bloom.

I made one more poppy for the Legion this week.  I am going to use up the red yarn that I have and then move on to making placemats for Meals on Wheels.  I hope to make 12 of those again this year.

I will link up with Kathy, Angela and Frederique.

  1. I'm sure you loved being on Finn duty, just as he loves to supervise and help you with your colour selection.

  3. Wow, Chain Link is a beauty, and what a lovely photo of you both! Pretty cross-stitch work in progress, and pink scraps selection. Those mitten prints are cute! It's good to have Flinn watching ;)
Thank you for sharing and linking up, hugs.

  5. Oh your poppy is so cute. I had to google Hellebore plants. They are very pretty. That's a new one to me. Of course... I ordered some cheap ones on eBay. We'll see if I can keep them alive for the two years it says for them to mature and bloom. I have just the place for them if I remember what they are next spring and I don't weed them.

If i might ask??--What specie of daffs do you have planted there--they look nice an short--which is what i am looking to find to go along my front walk--the others get so leggy and fall over on me...

  7. The chain link quilt top is fabulous, Gail! I love the pretty colors against the dark background. Looks like your perforated paper stitching is coming right along, too. Glad you're seeing some signs of Spring there! I didn't get any crocus this year either - I'm wondering if it was too warm of a winter for them or I just need to plant some more. Sweet Finn definitely doesn't want to miss out anything!

  9. The colours really pop against the dark background. I love it when the daffs start to come up. The ones around here are on there way out. It still means spring is on its way!

  10. when the plants start to bud out you know spring is around the corner even if you need to wear winter jacket when outside. Here it goes back and forth but I heard this week it will be off and on much needed rain so it might be staying in the 60-70's now instead of consent back and forth.

  11. Your quilt colors really pop against that dark background and I bet it looks even better now that it is trimmed. It is so sweet that Finn kept you company while you started on those pink scraps for the new month. How is your Monday morning treating you so far?
Please tell them I just shared a new post and invite them to read my new post: www.melodyjacob.com.

  12. Great finish on your Chain Link top! I also really like the rainbow nine patch quilt in your header. I've done no RSC piecing at all this year but do have two from prior years that I am hoping to finish in the coming month. Funny my daffodils have also sprouted but not bloomed yet but my next door neighbor has flowers already! If it's about warmth as you say then I think it may be because their patch gets more sun than mine.

  13. I love my hellebores too! Of course, mine were blooming a while ago since I'm just a bit farther south than you. Lol! Lovely pinks gathered. Progress will be coming soon, I'm sure. Love your snoop-ervisor! Oh that face!
