I bought the May/June issue of Fons and Porter's Love of Quilting magazine recently because I saw a quilt with curved seams that I thought looked interesting. The magazine mentioned a "simple curves" ruler that could be used instead of the template in the magazine. I decided to keep an eye out for the ruler when I found myself in a quilt store. If you read my last post, you know that I went shopping and purchased a roll of batting for my next "few" quilting projects last week. As I was looking around the store, I noticed the ruler hanging on the wall next to the other rulers...they only had one left and I bought it! (ignore the pins in the picture...this is the back of my project after I pin basted it before quilting...)
Last night, I cut into some black and white fabrics, sewed some strips together and cut out some curvy pieces for a pillow which will be a grade 8 grad gift for one of my nieces.
The leftovers look a bit odd, but I will find some way to use them.
I have just started to quilt the pillow top but here is a picture after pin basting but before quilting.
Stay tuned for an after picture sometime this weekend.
Happy sewing.
This looks really interesting-how difficult is it?
ReplyDeleteI have the same question! Did it take long to figure out how to join them?
ReplyDeleteThe ruler came with clear instructions on how to join the pieces. I will try to take some pictures and put them in my next post. It is not hard.
DeleteSo where did you find this ruler ? At a local shop or online?
ReplyDeleteIt came from Cherished Pieces in Tillsonburg
DeleteThat looks like fun!
ReplyDeleteThat looks like such fun! I love the resulting curves when they are all sewn together!
