Happy Easter to all who celebrate this holiday! We had brunch with my husband's family yesterday so the rest of the weekend will be quiet. My niece helped me to make a bunny charcuterie board for the brunch yesterday and I managed to get a picture before people started to nibble. I will have to make more of these for other family gatherings.
I only have one more quilt that needs a hanging sleeve for the quilt show. I hope to get to that this weekend. I am one of those people that likes to have things done ahead of time...I don't like the stress of trying to finish something at the last minute. A couple of quilts for the show are not in this pile, but you get the idea. The barn quilt I painted last summer is also going in the show.
My Arizona Adventures quilt is done and ready for the quilt show. It will hang in my front hall after the quilt show. There is another quilt in the to be finished pile that will be hand quilted next.
Our daughter sent me a picture of her March squares for her book blanket this week as well as a picture of the books she read. There are not as many books being read at the moment as she is very busy at work these days. Each granny square represents one book read.
I have this cross stitch picture on display right now for Spring. I made this for my mother well over 25 years ago. It was hard to get a picture without any reflections in the glass.
I have several types of daffodils in bloom right now in my garden. They are my favourite spring flowers.
I don't remember planting bloodroot in my garden but they are welcome volunteers. Such pretty little flowers! They don't bloom for long but are such a bright spot in the garden.
Finn was starting to look a bit shaggy and had a haircut this past week. The groomer gave him a new bandana which he proudly wore at the family brunch yesterday.
This was before the haircut...
While Finn was at the doggy spa, my husband and I went for a hike with the hiking club. It was cold and everyone was bundled up to stay warm. The temperatures here continue to fluctuate--it is 20 today...
Here is a picture of my cousin's new grand-daughter with her quilt. Her big brother has been telling her what he sees in all the fabrics. He has a flannel quilt that I made for him when he was born.
My sewing plans for this week include finishing that last hanging sleeve and working on more of my spinning drunkard's path blocks. I have a few other volunteer commitments this week too. Never a dull moment around here! Have a great week! I will link up with Kathy and Frederique.
I made that same cross stitch for my mother-in-law about 25 years ago as well!! If I remember correctly there were 3 coordinating pictures, but I only made 1.
ReplyDeleteYour Arizona Adventures is a real beauty. Love those bright spots of cheddar. Meanwhile, you have been busy. Love Finn's bandana. Beautiful cross stitched flowers and how wonderful to have some blooms. We are just getting rid of the snow but I did see on my walk just now, a couple of green shoots just poking through. Happy Stitching!
ReplyDeletethe food looks tasty the quilts are great and pretty - the walk looks like fun
ReplyDeleteGreat job on the charcuterie board!!! Love the baby on quilt photo!!! No daffodils here yet, but I love the cross stitch that came back to you!!!
ReplyDeleteYour daffodils are so pretty and that charcuterie board was super cute. It also look delicious! I too like to have my show projects ready to go well before the deadline. I don't need deadline stress either! Doesn't it make you smile to know big brother has taken an interest in letting little sister know what is in her quilt?--TerryK@OnGoingProjects
ReplyDeleteI like what you did with your cheese board! You have been busy finishing off your quilts for the show. Pretty spring cross stitch but so much outlining!!! Your daughter’s book squares are really nice. I’ve just finished one of your recommendations (Vera Wong) and loved it!
ReplyDeleteHappy Easter, Gail! That charcuterie board is so festive! I love your Arizona quilt - especially how you quilted it with the suns in the corner blocks. Those are such pretty daffodils! Finn looks all set for Spring now.
ReplyDeleteI like that bunny charcuterie board. I wish I would have thought about that earlier! Oh, how I hate making hanging sleeves, but it is a necessary evil if you enter anything in a show. I love pictures of babies on their quilts!
ReplyDeleteIts always so nice to get a photo of baby on their new quilt. Is that one potatoe chips? Doesn't Finn look great all spruced up! But then he looks nice with shaggy hair too.
ReplyDeleteHappy Easter, Gail. Your cousin's granddaughter is adorable. I really love your Arizona Adventure's Quilt . The quilting is perfection! Finn looks awful dapper sporting his new hair cut and scarf. Have a blessed day.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was a young child my mother gifted me with The Betty Crocker Cookbook for Children. What I loved about it was so many of the recipes were platted to look like a scene or object. I can see your Easter spread as something that would have been included. We host Thanksgiving. I always have a turkey or pumpkin created with a cheeseball, celery sticks, and other goodies. Such fun.
ReplyDeleteWhat an adorable baby. That was a whole lot of quilts to add sleeves to. You've been working diligently.
