I love how the different fabrics add texture and fun patterns to the collection.
I am using each fabric once...I may need to raid my friends' stashes soon to add more variety to my plus sign collection. Which plus sign is your favourite so far? I like the bikes!
I pin basted my Elephants on Parade quilt this week and started quilting it tonight. I quilted one row of elephants with horizontal wavy lines...this is one of the fancy stitches on my sewing machine. I love the texture that it is creating.
I am using a pale yellow Auriful thread top and bottom. The backing is a soft gray flannel with white polka dots.
With any luck, I will quilt another couple of sections tomorrow afternoon.
I have a couple of secret projects underway at the moment. One is a Canada 150 challenge for the Elgin Piecemakers. The big reveal is later this month. My piecing is done so I need to get it quilted this week and complete my project. The other project is a commission. I have lots of things going on to keep me busy and out of trouble these days. For those of you that read last week's post about me having the "crud", I am happy to report that I am feeling back to my normal self! It only lasted 4-5 days and then left the building. I am glad to be back to my normal energy level and activities.
How much fabric do you need for 1 plus sign? I might have some fabric you could use.
ReplyDeleteOh the pluses are lovely all together--I like the windows--your elephants are definitely on parade...hugs, Julierose
ReplyDeleteThere are two plus signs that stand out for me: the black and grey starbursts and the one with the dark black squiggles. Of the four new pluses I one on the right concerned me until I saw it with all the others. This is a great project.
ReplyDeleteFun prints for your elephants. Your EPP is coming along nicely as well. Happy weekend.
ReplyDeleteThe wavey stripe is my favorite, it's the first one that caught my eye.
ReplyDeleteThat little scissor print is cute. Nice handwork!
ReplyDeleteI like your fancy stitch - the only draw back with the machine I use for my machine quilting is it is straight stitch only - I really like this
ReplyDeleteI love your plus signs!
ReplyDeleteCan I send you some black on white prints to include in your plus sign project!?!
I like the plus sign with the circles. I am glad the Crud has left the building...never to return!
ReplyDeleteI've enjoyed your blog for quite some time. How much fabric do you need to make a plus sign?
ReplyDeleteI like the way the wavy lines merge and then meander out in the top left plus sign. It's hard to choose which one is my favorite. I like to watch the blades twirl in the wind too.
ReplyDeleteThe EPPs have a cohesive look and I like that. They remind me of puzzle pieces. Was your new quilt stitch on the elephant quilt done with a walking foot?
ReplyDeleteMy favorite is the scissors but they are all fun. Love that windmill shot! It is going to be so much fun to see the Elephants when you are all done with the quilting.
ReplyDeleteYour plus signs look great in all those low volume fabrics. And I am so pumped to see you quilting up your elephants! Glad to hear you are feeling better and sounding ready to burst with excitement about your secret projects. Looking forward to seeing what you have up your sleeve!
ReplyDeleteThe plus sings are wonderful but the elephants steal the show =)
ReplyDeleteThose elephants are going to be fabulous, I love using a flannel backing for baby quilts too. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty! love those pluses! I think the snowflakes and the stripes are my favorites, but they are all so pretty!
