Christmas Quilt Block and some Slow Stitching

Today, another block pattern was released by Lorna at Sew Fresh Quilts for the Holly Jolly Christmas sew along.  This one is called "All Wrapped Up."  There were not as many pieces in this ones as some of the previous blocks.

Here are the eyes and noses...

Pretty soon, I had the block finished.  I had only used the blue dot fabric once so far in my blocks so I was happy to use it again.

Here are my 9 finished blocks on my design wall.

It was a beautiful sunny day today so my Dad and I ate lunch outside.  There are quite a few blooms in my garden this week.  This is the inside of one of my Canada 150 tulips.

This one is called a Mickey Mouse tulip.

This one is on our fothergilla bush.

The seed heads of the Pasqueflower are interesting and I love the green glow from the middle.

For my Slow Stitching this week, I am making more plus signs.

I finished two and have fabric cut out for two more.

I'm still making bean bags for the weighted blanket too.  I have over 2/3's of the 140 bean bags I need done.  I hope to finish those off this week. Each one is filled with plastic pellets and hand sewn shut.  The blanket itself has 140 pockets which hold the bean bags. There is velcro at the top of each pocket to hold the bean bags in.  Weighted blankets are used by people with anxiety, autism and sleeping issues to help them to relax and get a good night's sleep.

Happy Mother's Day to all the Moms!  My daughter was home last weekend so I celebrated early.

  1. Your all wrapped up is coming along nicely. More pretty plusses.

  2. Your flowers are beautiful. I love those tulips! The latest Christmas block is really cute. I like the weighted blanket idea. I know that I often sleep better with a heavy afghan on top of my covers so I can see how it would be helpful. Enjoy your stitching.

  3. The loopy lines make a great plus sign.

  4. Your Christmas blocks look great... I'm way behind on that quiltalong. Enjoy your plus sign blocks today! Happy Mother's Day to you!

  5. The tulips are gorgeous!
All Wrapped Up is so cute! I love your version of Lorna's quilt along!
    Happy Mother's Day!

  6. The Canada 150 tulip is fabulous. I love things like that!

  7. I haven't come across weighted blankets but it makes sense. I'm not anxious but I still prefer a good weight on me when I sleep. Your Christmas blocks look great - does it feel odd to be working on them in the spring?

  8. love seeing your garden flowers as well as the sewing projects :)

  9. Those Christmas blocks are just darling! I have only made one Christmas quilt and this might inspire me to make another.

  10. The Christmas blocks are adorable, love the little eyes peeking out! Your garden flowers are beautiful.

  11. Your Jolly Christmas blocks are looking fantastic and I love that Canada tulip!

  12. Sounds like you have had some quality time with family this past week. Good for you! And that you have been able to get out and enjoy the good weather and lovely flowers. Your blocks all look fantastic and I love seeing your Christmas blocks all together!
