Lucky for me, the colour of the month at the Rainbow Scrap Challenge is Blue for April. I had already started making blue blocks for my Colour Block Challenge quilt for April so these two challenges will be met together. I ended up making 12 medium/dark blue blocks and then found I had a stack of light blue squares as well. I made 4 light blue blocks and put them all up on the design wall to consider my next steps. I looked at my stash and found some red solid fabric which I will use for sashing, but not between every block. If you come back to visit next week, I should have the top completed. This is my third Colour block quilt made with my 2.5" squares from the scrap bins. I still have lots more squares so there will be more quilts!
I made one more Comfort Quilt block this week for the Elgin Piecemakers. This one was easy--the fabric was provided and already cut. I like the way the stripes look on this block.
I finished three of my pineapple blocks this week and made progress on the remaining nine after the setback last week. The completed blocks are 8.5" and I am aiming for a table runner that is 6X2 blocks. We will see how that looks when the blocks are done.
One more Modern Sampler block was made this week too. Only two more to go to get caught up.
My cable knitting is coming along as well. I did some knitting in the car earlier this week as well as at home with Finn snuggled up beside me. This is just a practice piece so I can figure out what I am doing before tackling a bigger project.
Sorry to read you are in another lockdown, but with rising numbers I'm sure you are happy to stay and sew.
ReplyDeleteI’ve never seen a yarn bowl before. Yours is so pretty.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful yarn bowl, a friend has a pottery one. They are nifty for keeping the yarn in one place. Happy Easter to you and your family.
ReplyDeleteStay safe! Luckily here in Kansas, the vaccines are rolling out. I got the one shot J&J version last month, though I'm still masking up. All of your projects are looking good and Finn is a delight. I have two yarn bowls - the latest one was a Christmas gift from my sister last December. Your cables are looking very nice! What's the bigger project?
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday to Finn! Your projects are all lovely, I always love to see what you are up too and your gorgeous flowers! Happy Easter to you and your family!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely yarn bowl! And your cable stitching is amazing!
ReplyDeleteHappy easter!
Happy birthday to lovely Finn. I'm sorry to hear you have had to go into another lockdown I really hope you get your vaccine soon. Your cable knitting is looking good, once you get the hang of keeping the stitches on the cable needle it's fairly straight forward. Your 'just because' yarn bowl is gorgeous, the wood looks lovely and smooth. Great blocks too!
ReplyDeletethat is a beautiful yarn bowl I have one too but yours looks deeper I like that. Your flowers are wonderful and your quilt projects too. Sorry you all are in another lock down and your vaccine is a way off still. I was so glad to get my second on Friday even if it left me with aches and pains now. I know it will stop soon
ReplyDeleteI didn't realize Finn was about the same age as my daughter's dog, Ruby, who will be 3 in June. Your yarn bowl is gorgeous. I always like handmade items like that. Your quilt projects are wonderful as is your pretty cross-stitch. I hope you can get a vaccine soon and that your lockdown is short. Thankfully, Hubby and I have gotten our vaccines. Take care.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous yarn bowl! I think they are really neat to have but I don't think it would work for me. My kitty would be able to put her head in their and steal my yarn bowl! She can be so naughty when it comes to my yarn!!! haha! Your cross-stitch is making lovely progress.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Finn!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful flowers. Great blocks, knitting and cross-stitching, hope things goes better there. Here we are into a very sad situation. Take care and stay safe.
