With this post's title, you might think we are in the depths of winter! It was actually a beautiful sunny day today and most people were wearing shorts today when I was out. Two of my current projects have a winter theme...
These are all the pieces for the Holly and Berries block for the Sew Fresh Holly Jolly Christmas quilt. This is block number 10 of 15.
Here is the finished block. The berries on the edge of the block look a bit odd, but will be "rounder" when the block is sewn into the quilt.
My 10 blocks on the design wall...
For Slow Sunday Stitching this week, I have been working on a counted cross stitch snowmen picture which I started many years ago. I have had a few car trips this week so made quite a bit of progress. On one car trip, I was happily stitching away, chatting with my husband, and then I noticed that I had forgotten my scissors that I use to cut the threads. Ugh! We stopped at the next service centre and I went into the little variety store in search of scissors...no scissors, but I did find these....They work quite well to cut the threads and now they live in the car for my use when I sew as we travel.
Last week...
And this week...
There is a lot of white to fill in on the snowman's body and arms. Maybe, I will get some of that done this week.
I will be linking up with Kathy's Quilts with the other Slow Sunday Stitchers in the morning.
Your Holly Jolly Christmas is going to be so festive! I just love the darker background. It sure make the green leaves and berries stand out!
ReplyDeleteThis will be so pretty and festive!! I also like that darker background--(like our skies have been for "Forever" this Spring--glad to hear it's sunny somewhere!) hugs, Julierose
ReplyDeleteThose nail clippers are a great idea for car stitching. Hmm, I wonder if I could take them on a plane? Your snowman is coming along nicely. I really like that berry block. So pretty.
ReplyDeleteGreat idea, and your snowman is really coming along nicely!
ReplyDeleteLove the berry block. The snowman is coming along nicely. It's really Christmas in July at your place. Enjoy! ;^)
ReplyDeleteI was going to do the Holly Jolly quilt, but passed on it. Now seeing yours, I regret my choice!
ReplyDeleteI always think I should work on Christmasy winter things in the summer and then they will be finished but I never get to it! Great job on the stitching!
ReplyDeleteYour quilt blocks look great and the cross stitch snowman is coming along nicely. I use nail clippers to snip threads when I don't have my scissors with me.
ReplyDeleteThe clippers are perfect for clipping threads! I can not wait to see the finished snowman, and your blocks look awesome!
ReplyDeleteYour snowmen are going to be so adorable! And I just love your Christmas blocks on that grey background... They look fabulous on your design wall!
ReplyDeleteYour design wall looks so festive! I love to cross stitch, too. I can honestly say I never used nail clippers to cut thread, but I can imagine it worked great! Very clever. I love the snowmen - I look forward to seeing it progress. ~smile~ Roseanne
ReplyDeleteLove your Holly Jolly blocks and your cross stitched snow man. I've carried nail clippers for stitching on planes every since they got strict about what you can have onboard. Works perfectly. Happy Stitching!
